Ronald Clyde Long, 69, of Bruceton Mills (Brandonville), WV, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. The son of the late Leo and Eva Shultz Long, he was born June 12, 1946, in Mt. Pleasant, PA. Ron was a U.S. Army Veteran, a Purple Heart recipient of the Vietnam War and a life member of the Preston County VFW Post 2523. He was a graduate of the Diesel Institute of America and worked as a diesel mechanic. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sharon A. Shockey Long; two daughters and their spouses, Denise Wilfong and Walter, Jr., of Clifton Mills, WV, and Rhonda Taylor and Eric, of Elkton, VA; two sons, Tim Buzzard and Mike Long and his wife, Sharon, of Bruceton Mills (Brandonville); grandchildren: David Wilfong and Jason Wilfong and his wife, Christy, Rebecca Fike, Catlin Taylor, Shayla Long, Kelsey Long, Connor Taylor and Brae Lynn Long; great-grandchild, Jordan Scott; five sisters; and two brothers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three daughters: Stacy, Lisa and Jane Long, and a sister. Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, Friday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and Saturday, April 16, 2016, from 10 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service in the funeral home, with Pastor Barry M. Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Shady Grove Cemetery, Bruceton Mills, with full military honors provided by the Preston County VFW Posts, the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 977 of Preston County, WV, and WVANG Military Honors, Camp Dawson.
