Obituary of Roger Len Reckart

Roger Len Reckart, 77, of Albright (Lenox Community), WV, passed away October 24, 2025, at Kingwood Healthcare Center in Kingwood, WV with his loving family by his side. The son of the late Carlus and Mary E. Wolfe Reckart, he was born November 13, 1947, in Cranesville, WV. Roger was a U.S. Army veteran and served as a Fire Chief in the Vietnam War. He returned to his country home where he worked as a coal miner and a carpenter. He enjoyed hunting and playing his Martin guitar in nursing homes, but most of all, he enjoyed his family. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Mae Ringer Reckart, of 58 years; a son and his wife, Roger Len Reckart, Jr. and Whitney, and their children: David B. Reckart, Julia R. Reckart, Adam C. Reckart, and Jordan D. Reckart (Kelsey); and a son and his wife, Daniel S. and Elissa Reckart, and his children, Selena H. Sousa (Ruben), Dylan S. Reckart (Cynthia), Noah A. Reckart (Stephanie) and Emily G. Reckart. Also surviving are great grandchildren: Dean S. Nunez, Ezreal A. Nunez, Elijah G. Sousa, Elowyn J. Reckart, Lucio A. Reckart, Lucia A. Reckart, Zeeke D. Smiley and Tommy L Frye III; a sister and her husband, Joice and Ronnie Fisher, a sister-in-law, Patsy Reckart; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Reckart. Family and friends may be received at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, on Monday, October 27, 2025, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., and Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 12 noon until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Dennis Leatherman officiating. Military grave side services provided by the U.S. Army and the Preston County honor guard will follow at the Lutheran (Lenox Memorial) Cemetery in Albright (Lenox), WV.
