Caskets

Carl R. Spear Funeral Home has a long-standing tradition of providing our patrons with the best service and highest quality products possible, and we make sure that our caskets are no exception.

For years, we have offered quality, long-lasting caskets to families that have utilized our services. We promise to do our best to provide you with a casket that will not only meet your personal taste, but will also fit within your price range.

Bronze Caskets
Bronze, a semi-precious material alloy, is the strongest and longest-lasting of any casket construction material. Bronze is resistant to corrosive elements, and makes an elegant, exquisite remembrance.

Copper Caskets
Copper, a precious metal, is known for its longevity, beauty, and resistance to corrosion. Copper is one-third stronger than stainless steel, and its combination of strength and beauty helps memorialize a remarkable life.

Stainless Steel Caskets
Stainless steel, an alloy of carbon steel and chromium, provides strength and resistance to corrosion at an economical price.

Steel Caskets
Steel, known for its affordability and long-lasting performance, is one of the most popular of casket materials. From the highest quality 16-gauge to a minimum quality 20-gauge, thickness determines the general quality and price.

Hardwood Caskets
Hardwood caskets are constructed from the finest materials, such as Cherry and Oak. Both durable and long-lasting, hardwood caskets are a favorite of many funeral patrons.

Vaults

The Carl R. Spear Funeral Home offers a wide variety of outer burial containers. Many different materials and designs are available which offer basic to premium protection.

Most cemeteries require the use of either a burial vault or a grave box/grave liner. Following the graveside service and prior to burial, the casket is placed in such a burial container. These outer burial containers prevent the sinking and collapsing of the grave.

Burial vaults are usually made of reinforced concrete. They are also designed to seal and thereby keep out the elements. Most burial vaults are coated on the outside with asphalt (prior to being painted), have a tongue and grove sealing method, and have an additional inner liner. The liners are made from a variety of products including plastic, fiberglass, and semi-precious metals, such as bronze, copper and stainless steel. Prior to delivery to the cemetery, each burial vault is painted on the outside to either match or compliment the casket color.

Grave boxes and grave liners are simple concrete boxes that do not seal, do not have an inner liner, do not have an asphalt coating on the outside, and are not painted. A grave box or a grave liner usually meets the minimum requirements of the cemetery.
