Benjamin Jay Thomas,
39, of Bruceton Mills, WV, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 21, 2020.
The son of Dale and Peggy Williams Thomas and the third of four boys, Ben was born March 20, 1980, in Elkins, WV.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Stephanie Irvine Thomas, whom he met while stationed at Fort Drum, NY, and married on December 30, 2002, at the Valley Bend Presbyterian Church in Beverly, WV. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters: Cimarron Elise Thomas, who preceded him in death on May 11, 2018, and Adara Berlyn Thomas who survives him in Bruceton Mills. In addition to his wife and daughter, he is survived by his parents, Dale and Peggy Thomas, of Frostburg, MD; three brothers: Marty (Marci) Thomas, Brad (Julie) Thomas, and Buddy Thomas-- all of Maryland; and numerous relatives and friends.
Ben graduated in 1998 from Beall High School in Frostburg. He then enlisted in the Army, were he served with the 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, NY. After 911, he participated in the Enduring Freedom Campaign. After his discharge from the Army, he attended Western Colorado University in Gunnison, CO, and Montana Technological University in Butte, MT, which lead to a career in the Oil and Gas Industry. He most recently was employed by Omni Energy Group.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Service, Saturday, February 1, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV. Military honors will be provided by the Preston County VFW Posts and the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 977, of Preston County, WV.
