In years past he could be found almost every Saturday morning loading up his Beagles and joined by his son-in-law and best friend, Donnie Liston as well as numerous friends over the years. He was an accomplished archer and gun hunter, harvesting numerous white tail deer in his lifetime. In later years, when not hunting or gardening, he enjoyed having coffee with his sons-in-law while watching the birds and squirrels at the feeders, discussing politics and solving the world's problems. He loved to watch old John Wayne movies and "The Rifleman" on TV.
Dale retired with over 40 years of service at Lakeview Resort and Country Club as Greens Superintendent. He was President/Trustee of the Fairview-Pisgah Cemetery for many years.
His passion was his family. Nothing mad him happier than having family and friends gather around him. His other interests included camping and gardening, cooking fried potatoes over an open fire, cutting grass and splitting wood. Just a few weeks ago, he climbed on his mower, of which he was so proud and cut his front lawn for the last time.
