Phyllis Jean Barnes Thomas,
79, of Bruceton Mills, WV, died on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at home and surrounded by her loving and dedicated family.
The daughter of the late Flemming Clark Barnes and Jessie Forman Barnes, she was born on October 3, 1942.
Phyllis was a lifelong resident of Bruceton Mills and worked for 43 years at Bruceton Bank. She was a faithful member of Shady Grove Church of the Brethren and served in many positions within the church and enjoyed many years of fellowship with her church family.
Phyllis is survived by two sons: Gregory Clark Thomas and his wife, Crystal, and Jeffery Ward Thomas; and a daughter and her husband, Melinda and Bill Dietrich, all of Bruceton Mills; six grandsons: Brandon Thomas and wife, India, Noah Thomas, Holden Thomas, Hunter Thomas, Gavin Thomas, and Rick Deal; and one great granddaughter, Grace Thomas. She is also survived by Talia Goodwin who was like a granddaughter to her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Lowell Thomas, and a nephew, Brian Thomas.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to her caregivers at home, Kandy Rosenberger and Nancy Cooley, and to WV Caring.
Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, on Wednesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the Shady Grove Church of the Brethren, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service, with Pastor Mike Bernard and Pastor Barry M. Adkins officiating. Interment will follow at the Shady Grove Cemetery in Bruceton Mills.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Shady Grove Church of the Brethren, c/o Teresa Quinn, 18254 North Preston Highway, Bruceton Mills, WV 26525.
It its requested that masks and social distancing be observed.
