Obituary of Dorothy Melrose Mitchell

DOROTHY M. MITCHELL, 101, of Chino, CA, and formerly of Bruceton Mills (Glade Farms Community), WV, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016, in the home of her son. The daughter of the late Samuel N. and Nancy Umble Byrd, she was born April 25, 1915, in Markleysburg, PA. She attended the Christian House of Prayer in Chino and was a member of the Chino Senior Center. Dorothy is survived by a son, Myron Guy Mitchell and his wife, Carole, of Chino, CA; six grandchildren: Justin and his wife, Leah, Kyle, and Landon Mitchell, Debra Anderson and her husband, David, Lorrie Fowler and her husband, David, and Jody Marcum; and four great-grandchildren: Caden, Connor and Ethan Mitchell and Celena Evans and her husband, Paul. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Mitchell, April 2, 1988; two sons, Stephen and Randy Mitchell; a daughter, Janet Shaffer; a son-in-law, Carl Shaffer; nine brothers; and nine sisters. Friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home, Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, Friday, from 5-8 p.m., and Saturday, May 21, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service, with Rev.
