Obituary of James Truman Chipps
James Truman "Chippy" Chipps,
79, of Bruceton Mills, WV, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
The son of the late Gay Franklin and Mary Elizabeth Staley Chipps, he was born May 31, 1939, in Morgantown, WV.
He was retired as a Chief Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army.
Chippy is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Sue Marshall Chipps; two sons, Rodney Chipps of Bruceton Mills, and Dave Marshall and his wife, Brenda, of Proctorville, OH; a daughter and her husband, Crystal and Travis Adams of Bruceton Mills; a sister, Emma Lou Sickles of Barberton, OH; Poppy's grandchildren: Samoni Paige Marshall and her fiancé, Michael Toth of Myrtle Beach, SC, Hunter Chipps, Jenna Adams, Madison Chipps and Trevor Huggins of Bruceton Mills; several nieces and nephews; and two young girls that called him Poppy, McKenna Maust and Lillian Zender.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gay Chipps and John Black and two sisters, Mable Palmer and Annabelle Banks.
Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, Sunday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and Monday, June 25, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service in the funeral home, with Pastor Steve Wotring officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Morgantown. Military honors will be provided by the Preston County Honor Guard and the WVANG Military Funeral Honors, Camp Dawson.
