                                HERBERT E. SPINDLER,


     77, of Bruceton Mills, WV, died Thursday, January 5, 1996, in his home.
     The son of the late Harry and Myrtle Benson Spindler, he was born December 9, 1918, at Clifton Mills.
     He was a member of the Clifton Church of the Brethren, the Bruceton-Brandonville Volunteer Fire Department (33 years), VFW Post 2523, and the Bruceton Town Council.
     He is survived by his wife, Thelma Wolfe Spindler; two daughters, Mary Rae Benson and Teresa L. Crane of Bruceton Mills; a son, William H. Spindler of Bruceton Mills; five grandchildren: Kimberly Benson Fortney, Kelly Benson, Derrick Crane, Ashley Spindler and Nicole Spindler; and a great-grandson, Lane Fortney.
     Friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home, Brandonville, WV, Saturday, 2-9 p.m. and Sunday, January 7, 1996, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. time of services in the funeral home with Rev. Leah Harness.  Burial will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery, Bruceton Mills, WV.
     Bruceton-Brandonville Volunteer Fire Department members will be pallbearers.  Military graveside services will be provided by Preston County VFW members.
