Obituary of Roy Dwight Smith
Roy D. Smith,
95, of Bruceton Mills passed away Monday, April 29th, 2019 at home with his family by his side.
A son of the late Charles Ralph and Murhl Wolfe Smith, he was born August 13, 1923.
Roy was a member of the Little Sandy Church of the Nazarene where he served as treasurer for several years. He and his father operated a family dairy. He had a great love for farm life. He was an avid fan of WVU basketball. He was employed by the WV Department of Highways until he retired as Preston County Supervisor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Betty (Spiker) Smith; three daughters, Bonnie (Charles) Lemley, Billie (Clifford) Stemple and Becky (Gary) Benson all of Bruceton Mills; one sister, Mary Hilda Wotring of Akron, OH; four grandchildren, Tara (Chris) Harsh of Bruceton Mills, Ryan (Carly) Lemley of Morgantown, Rachelle (Joshua) Belokur of Lima, NY, Scot (Nicole) Benson of Morgantown; fifteen great-grandchildren, Logan, Carson, & Henry Harsh, Camden & Rylee Lemley, Lillian, Levi, Josiah, Matthias, John, Luke & Damian Belokur, Jude, Noah, & Luke Benson; Several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Roy gifted his body to the Human Gift Registry at WVU. A memorial service will be held May 11, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Little Sandy Church of the Nazarene with Chaplain Craig Falkenstine and Pastor Chad Harvey officiating.
