Thelma Grace Spindler, 99, of Bruceton Mill, WV, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home on April 28, 2022. Mom was an active member of the Church of the Brethren in Clifton Mills for her entire life. She was a member of the Friendsville Senior Citizens and the Preston County Seniors and enjoyed being with friends. Mom was married to Herbert (Son) Spindler in 1945 for 51 years. Together they created this family who will miss her very much. They include her children: Mary Rae Benson (Steve), Teresa Crane (Clifford), and Bill Spindler (Cathy Appleby); grandchildren: Kimberly Benson Fortney, Kelly Benson-Vogt (Jim), Derrick Crane (Suzanne), Ashley Mattingly (Chris), and Nicole Lewis (Brody); and great-grandchildren: Lane Fortney, Atley Fortney, Bailey Vogt, Riley Vogt, Navy Crane, and Charlotte Lewis. Later, she and Dad moved back to Pittsburgh where they lived for 12 years. Upon moving back to Preston County, she worked for the Preston County Board of Education for 22 years. Mom loved that job and said it was a joy to work with the many friends she had. She served on the Town Council in Bruceton Mills and took an interest in politics by serving on the election board for many years. She had a political point of view and stood her ground. Mom and Dad enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, but they were always glad to return to their home in Bruceton Mills where they lived for 61 years. Mom had a sense of humor in telling stories about her childhood and events in her life which we all will miss. Her family would like to thank the wonderful help from Amedisys Hospice/Home Health Care for their compassionate care and also the special caregivers, Nancy and Sue.
