Obituary of Everett Charles Shaffer

Please share a memory of Everett to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Everett Charles Shaffer Everett “Budz” Charles Shaffer, 93, passed away peacefully in his home on August 18. He was surrounded by the love and companionship of his wife and four daughters. Born in Preston County, West Virginia, he was the son of Rufus and Jessie Shaffer. They lived in a close knit farming community in "the house on the hill" and Budz enjoyed exploring its natural beauty with his brother, Sam. Everett proudly served his country during the Korean War and was honorably discharged from the Army. He and his wife Mary moved to Maryland where he was employed at Bethlehem Steel until retirement. They returned to their roots to enjoy their retirement years in WV. His natural mechanical abilities served him so well in his deployment, his career, and in every facet of his life. Pap is survived by his wife Mary, the true love of his life, with whom he spent over 65 happily wedded years. His legacy lives on in his four daughters and their spouses Rose (Fred), Brenda (Stew), Linda (Andy), and Trudy (John). Their families have been blessed with 12 grandchildren (Ben, Margaret, Jon, Emily, Rachel, Becca, Stephanie, Olivia, Tabitha, Luke, Noah, and John), their spouses and 10 great grandchildren. Truly one of the greatest joys of Pap's life was celebrating his enormous extended family which included so many relatives and friends. His faith and love of music and storytelling will live on in each of them. Celebrations of Everett’s life will be held in Maryland and in West Virginia. The Maryland service will be on September 3rd at Fallston United Methodist Church (1509 Fallston Road, Fallston, MD 21047) at 1:00 P.M. Friends may visit with the family at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton, WV, on Friday, September 16, 2022, from 6 to 8 PM. The service will be on September 17, at 2 o'clock at Beatty United Methodist Church, Terra Alta, WV. His final resting place will be Cress Cemetery in Hudson, West Virginia.
