Obituary of Colleen Mae Moran

Please share a memory of Colleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Colleen Mae “Granny” Moran, 96, of Bruceton Mills, WV, stepped on a bus for her final trip to meet the Lord whom she loved, as He held out His hand February 4, 2023, and said, “Come to Me”. The daughter of the late Rev. Martin and Bessie Dalton Riggleman, she was born April 27, 1926, in Masontown, WV. Colleen was an avid reader and loved to travel. She had a bucket list of favorite things to see, and the final trip on the list was achieved in 2008 when she traveled to Monument Valley and said, “Now, I have seen it all”. Traveling extensively to all the states and Canada, Italy, Ireland, the Bahamas, Mexico and Bermuda, she loved every moment of the bus, plane and especially AMTRAK. She just enjoyed life. Colleen was the wife of the late Bruce “Pat” Moran and together they owned and operated Pleasant Valley Farms. As dairy farmers, the hours were long and consuming but very rewarding. As a farmer’s wife, she loved to cook and feed many friends and hired help over the years. She felt she had baked a truck load of Buckwheat cakes and cooked barrels of beans and potatoes, and they were enjoyed by anyone who stopped by. Colleen never won an Oscar, held an official office or received any high honors, but she loved life and enjoyed every God given year. Above all else, being with her family was her favorite thing-- as the song goes. She is survived by three kids: Dr. Gerald D. Moran and his wife, Emily, of Beaver Falls, PA, Linda Louise Adams of Bruceton Mills, and Rev. Greg L. Moran and his wife, Susan, of Bruceton Mills; and grandchildren: Gretchen Laskas (Karl), Dr. Laura Moran, Gerallyn Friel (Tom), Aaron Brown (Lois), Adam Brown, Dr. John Adams (Beth Anne), Gregory Moran II (Heidi), Dr. Ryan Moran, and Rachael Davis (Shawn). Also surviving are great grandchildren: Brennan Laskas, Katharine Virginia Laskas, Hugh Friel, Owen Moran, Mason Moran, Gracelynn Davis, Sara Davis, John Davis, Jack Adams, and Rhett Adams; a special friend, Glenda DeWitt; a sister, Deborah Murray (Jock); and a brother, Carroll Rex Riggleman (Joy); and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, two beloved brothers, Rev. Elmer Glenn Riggleman and Norman Edward Riggleman; and a special, son-in-law, Joseph Page Adams. Family and friends will be received at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, Monday, February 6, 2023, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., and Tuesday, February 7, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service at the Valley Point Apostolic Church in Albright, WV, with Pastors Shawn Davis, Jr. and Josh Burke officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Valley Cemetery. Condolence: spearfuneralhome.net
