John Charles “Charlie” Cramer,
82, of Bruceton Mills, Centenary Community, passed away June 21, 2023, at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.
The son of the late Denver (Fuzzy) and Madaline (Money) Reckart Cramer, he was born on March 24, 1941, in Albright, WV.
Charlie loved to hunt, fish and camp at a little site that he had cleared on the family land where he grew up, and he loved playing cards or Dominoes with his sisters. He spent a lot of time with each of his grandsons and granddaughter whom he dearly loved. He certainly passed on many life lessons and love to his grandchildren.
Charlie loved to ride motorcycles, and at the age of 82, he was still riding with his son, John, and a dear friend, Steve Miller.
Charlie proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Robert K. Huntington, or the “Bouncing Bobby K” as he called it. After his honorable discharge, he held several jobs as a truck driver, heavy equipment operator, and oiler on a drag line. However, the job that gave him the most pride and love was being a dad.
He is survived by a son and his wife, John and Teresa Cramer; a daughter and her husband, Tina and Donald Bragg; two sisters, Liz Peasley and Polly (Skip) Livengood; a brother, Denver Cramer; his ex-wife, Shirley Savage; grandchildren: William Hunt (Billy), Jeremy Hunt, Robert Hunt (Bob Bob) and spouse, Morgan, Nathan Cramer and spouse ,Emma, Dawn Marie Odell and spouse, Will, and Joe Bragg and spouse, Casey; great-grandchildren: Bransten, Hanna, Cyrus, Rosie, Callum, Archer, Mackeynzee, Deryk, Graysen and Harper; and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by a son, Sean Michael Cramer; his sister, Eleanor Reckart; three nephews: Jay Reckart, Johnnie Ray Cramer and Gene Livengood; and his beloved dog, Jake.
Family and friends will be received at the Carl R Spear Funeral Home, Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, on Saturday June 24, 2023, from noon until the 2:00 pm service, with Pastor Butch Rice officiating. Interment will follow at the Centenary Cemetery, Bruceton Mills, WV, with military honors provided by the United States Navy, the Preston County Military Honor Guard, and the WVANG Funeral Honors at Camp Dawson.
