Born in Preston County, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Avis and Virgil Kidwell. She had two brothers who preceded her in death, Bub and Bill, whom she treasured.

Mary was an amazing caregiver to her family, friends, and others in need. She was also a leader in multiple organizations throughout her life including her churches, school PTA, Cress Cemetery Association, and the Preston County Historical Society. Mary enjoyed cooking and baking for her large family and others producing many delicious pot roasts, pies, and sugar cookies.
Mary is survived by her four daughters and their spouses: Rose (Fred), Brenda (Stew), Linda (Andy), and Trudy (John). She and Everett have been blessed with 12 grandchildren: Ben, Margaret, Jon, Emily, Rachel, Becca, Stephanie, Olivia, Tabitha, Luke, Noah, and John, and their spouses, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mary loved the large family gatherings where amazing food and good company were paramount. She had a magical touch with the babies! She also loved family reunions in West Virginia.
