Charles E. Benson, 78, of Morgantown, WV, died Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at Mapleshire Nursing and Rehab Center, Morgantown, WV. The son of the late Marlin D. and Beatrice Margaret Gribble Benson, he was born September 20, 1938, in Bruceton Mills, WV. Charlie was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a 1956 graduate of Bruceton High School, a member of Cheat Lake Volunteer Fire Department, a farmer, and a pilot. He was retired as an Air Traffic Controller at Hart Field, Morgantown. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Marie Wolfe Benson; a daughter and her spouse, Rebecca Benson Bailey and Ron, of Morgantown; two sons: Steven C. Benson of Morgantown and Dr. Scott M. Benson and his wife, Kelly, of Morgantown; three granddaughters: Alexa Nicole Johnson and her husband, Travis, Emily Ann Benson, and Aubrey E. Benson; and a sister, Twyla L. Wolfe, of Bruceton Mills. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Delbert Benson. Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, Friday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, December 17, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service in the funeral home, with Rev. Al Prichard officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Morgantown. Condolences: spearfuneralhome.net
