Doris Vivian Hechler,

86, of Bruceton Mills (Hazelton community), WV, passed away Saturday evening, May 20, 2017, at her home.
The daughter of the late Joseph Dayton and Lena Schnopp Evans, she was born November 25, 1930, in Terra Alta, WV.
Doris graduated from Bruceton High School in 1950 and attended her class reunion almost every year.  She valued the friendship of her fellow classmates.  She enjoyed gardening and maintaining her beautiful flowers, and she loved her two cats, chickens, and guineas.  As a member of the North Preston Senior Center, Doris looked forward to the meetings, club functions, and trips.  She will be missed greatly by her family and many friends.
Her father, Dayton, owned and operated the Hazelton Milling Company in Hazelton WV.  That business was first purchased by her grandfather, John D. Evans, in the early 1930's and was operated by the Evans family until 2014.  The mill is still in the Evans family.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Kathie Johnston, and her husband, Doug, of Dunnellon, FL; a sister, Jane Matlick, of Portland, OR; grandchildren:  Doug Johnston, Dale Johnston and his wife, Jenny, and Amanda Waddey and her husband, Kirk; and five great-grandchildren who live in Florida.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Hechler; brothers and sisters: Willard, Mildred, Irene, Charles, John, and Wayne; and a nephew, Gary Evans.
Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, Friday, from 4:00-8:00 p.m., and Saturday, May 27, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service in the funeral home, with Rev. Vicki D. Sheppard officiating.  Burial will follow in the Parnell Cemetery, Bruceton Mills (Cuzzart) WV.
