Obituary of James Nelson Crane

James N. Crane 87 of Kingwood, WV, went to be with his Lord, Friday, February 10, 2023. The son of the late Alva Glen Crane and Della Murl Liston Crane, he was born in Morgantown, WV, on September 12, 1935. Jim was a 1953 graduate of Kingwood High School and then served in the WV National Guard. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Kingwood, where he taught the men’s Sunday school class. A member of the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department, he also was past General Chairman of the Preston County Buckwheat Festival. Jim took over and operated the family business, Cranes Feed Store Valley Point, until his retirement. And, he enjoyed daily breakfasts with close friends. He is survived by his wife, Janice Sue White Crane; a daughter and her spouse, Janie and Mike Spahr, of Kingwood; a sister and her husband, Peggy and Robert Martin, Sr., of North Carolina; two granddaughters and their spouses, Ashlyn and Toby Liston, of Hazelton, WV, and Darcy and Cory Jennings, a of Thornton, WV; and two great-grandchildren, Casen and Huntlea Jennings. Family and friends will be received at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, Monday, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Kingwood from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service, with Rev. Jonathon Nettles officiating. Burial will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery in Kingwood. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church, 107 W.
